Last week I was able to go to one of Minnesota’s fashion shows with free tickets to fashion week from work (yay leftover tickets for the interns!).
My friend (and fellow intern) Claire and I got to the Grain Belt Bottling House in Minneapolis just in time to hit up the complementary wine and let our eyes feast on the crowd for some good people watching. The Shows hosted the event and the 2013 collections from Samantha Rei and Emma Berg were showcased.
The large, warehouse-like style of the venue managed to work perfectly with Rei’s whimsical line and with Berg’s sheer, minimalist Spring 2013 line.
Many of Rei’s dresses gave off an Alice in Wonderland feel. I really enjoyed the way the dark backdrop of the large room emphasised this Wonderland appeal.
Berg’s warrior like designs were gorgeous: long and flowing. Her last three pieces made a political statement, imploring Minnesotan’s to “Vote No” against the Marriage Amendment this November.
While it may have only been my first time at fashion week, I think it was quite the show.
